Situational Overview
A $20 million growth-stage digital healthcare company – poised for significant growth – faced two paths: Exit? Or invest, scale up, and focus on revenue growth?”
CHALLENGE
The CEO, board and investors had different visions, and decisions had to be made. While both paths showed promise, each path had challenges that needed to be vetted. The CEO and leadership team were operating day to day. They needed to hire a Chief Technology Officer who would optimize the sales infrastructure within the technological platform.
EXECUTION
Allen Partners was called to help align interests, provoke thought and discuss what other companies do at their stage of development. We met with the CEO, COO, and a board member who was operationally engaged. Allen Partners led a meeting with the executive team and the board to create consensus on the internal talent they needed.
Discussions that had been tabled were brought to life, awareness on key points was heightened, and solutions were created that were right for the business.
SOLUTION
An internal leader was promoted who had the capabilities to lead the CTO expansion. Allen Partners worked with the leadership team to build a plan to hire a Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Marketing Officer. We recruited and presented three CCO candidates.
RESULTS
Interviews were successful, and a solid “fit” occurred on all sides. The leadership team met a total of five people and hired two leaders. The CEO and his leadership used their time effectively and received accepted offers from the top candidates. The business is rapidly growing and the team is executing successfully on their growth plans.
TAKEAWAY
The CEO and his team needed s a strategic partner who could help them come to point of clarity, uncover internal issues, get the groups talking and collaborating, and successfully embark on a successful plan. They needed a solid confidant who knew the industry, could provide consultative view points on what other companies do at the same size and stage, help them think through the objective and subjective aspects of a Candidate Profile, build a plan, and execute to those goals. Candidates expressed gratitude to the CEO about the approach we took, and noted that Allen Parters’ ability to tell the company story so well really got their attention.
